  • One week in the d’Huez

    Hallo peeps!

After the enthusiastic responses from the previous blog here i am, one week later, back in The Underground having another beer!

This week has been a bit of a roller-coaster.

The weekend was quiet as our Sunday night gig was cancelled over noise-complaints. (We’ve heard rumours that the local Mairie wants all live music in Alpe d’Huez banned after 10pm…)

As we had an evening free we thought it’d be rude not to head out for a few beers…the nightclub beckoned and needless to say we all awoke in the van with pained expressions…

Talking of vannie…The Big Dog has treated us well so far, although a lack of “facilities” means that every morning we go to the local sports centre for a game of tennis. Just tennis obviously, we definately don’t use the showers, toilets and washbasins.

Our first gig in the Alpe Due was at Smithys. Following a slap up feed (cheers guys), we powered on with a full party set. It was really busy and the guys from Natives were there as part of the Natives Show Love Tour.

The next day consisted of eating, drinking and setting up at Sharkeys. (all we seem to do is eat, drink and play. We’re like musical babies…) Despite the newly installed decibel-meter both sets went down really well. We sold some cd’s and some of the crowd have come back to other gigs.

Generally speaking, there is a lot of wreckage in the alps. However, nothing quite compares to that of the underground boys…funnily enough this was the next venue in our run of four gigs these past five days…

Despite our best efforts they ruined us.

Aza had to take himself home, Ben and I we’re incapable of coherent speech and all the gear was left “in situe” till 5pm the next day. oops.

Lily’s beckoned next. A lovely chilled Irish bar run by our friend Steve. Supping through halves of Guinness and playing some of our more mellow tunes, it was the ideal antidote to the night before.

Today, after an early night, we spent the whole afternoon on the hill! Hooray! We all managed to get some gear and knacker ourselves up.

So, again, i bid you adieu. Happy birthday to my Bro Oli.

    Big love, Berty
